Sunak Has Missed The Boat!

Boat Crossings Up!

Worrying Times for Wishy Washy Rishi.

The weather in the English Channel seems the same for migrants as it was William for The Conqueror in 1066. In other words, the sea has to be calm to affect a smooth crossing destination - the UK.

The weather in the channel must have been calm as migrant boat crossings are up to 4,644. In the first 3 months of 2022, crossings were 4,458 - 96 fewer crossings.

It is abundantly clear that Sunak has been failing and has failed to meet one of His five pledges. Sunak's catchphrase was plastered everywhere he went: "Stop The Boats". Well, the question has to be asked, can he still meet this pledge or is time running out?

Parliament is on an Easter break right now. MPs will not return to work until 15 April. Only then will legislation be discussed about the 'Rwanda Plan'. Even if passed, it will be a magic bullet, to ease the numbers of migrants coming here. If passed, how many migrants will be on flights to Rwanda, will dodgy lawyers represent migrants wishing to stay in the country, and finally, will it put off migrants? It looks like, Sunak is still clinging to hope that this bill will be passed and work. So come the local elections, Sunak can say to the voters, "I am doing something about the migrant crisis"! Even if passed, will it be enough, to secure Sunak another 5 years in 10 Downing Street?

According to one poll Sir Keir Starmer will walk into Downing Street with a 400 MP majority. The Tories will be devastated down to 100 and something for their members of parliament. Big Tory names like Iain Ducan Smith are predicted to lose their seats in the general election, whenever, it is called. Then the migrant crisis will be a problem for Starmer and Co.

Conservatives are damned if they get rid of Sunak and damned if they keep him. For now. at least, it looks like Wishy Washy Rishi has headed off any backbench rebellions. However, all that could change when parliament reconvenes after April 15. There were talks of charging homeless people £2,000 merely for being on the streets. Many Tories realizing the injustice of this or for fear of losing their seats have threatened to rebel over this!

Sunak started as a golden boy and saviour of the Conservative Party. However, the 43-year-old ex-hedge fund financier now finds himself in the bin of popularity. Sunak has been described by Tim Montgomery a Tory supporter "As a nice man, but woefully out of his depth"! In other words, like Boris before him, he is not suited to be Prime Minister. Time and again, we come back to the riches of Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy. The Sunaks have to be (unless there are other examples) the richest couple ever to occupy 10 Downing Street. Their financial position makes them sorely out of touch with ordinary people facing rising costs in shops.

For many Tories, even if they don't want to admit it, their time might be up! After 14 years of mismanagement and cutbacks and 5 Prime Ministers later, nothing has changed! This government will go down in history as even worse than Margaret Thatcher during the 1980s. She did some awful things but this lot does take the biscuit.

So as many Tories hit the campaign trail in the run-up to the local elections they will do so glumly. They know that their performance will be rubbish. They know Labour will gain at their expense, the Lib-Dems will do well, and Reform might steal some council seats from them.
