Rishi in Awe of Musk.

Summit on AI at Lancaster House.

By Nicholas BishopPublished 8 months ago 3 min read
Elon Musk.

At a conference on AI, Rishi Sunak, sat on stage interviewing, Elon Musk. The billionaire businessman has quite a few thumbs in many pies. He has business interests in space, manufacturing, and the internet. He has views on migration, and, media in general. Some of his acts and views do not always align with British domestic and foreign policy. For example, the UK is backing Israel in its fight with Hamas. The internet is mainly down due to targeting by Israeli forces. However, Musk has provided Gazans with the internet via his Starlink satellite internet service. It would seem Musk also has the power to help or blunt Ukraine, in its fight, with Russia. Musk is someone you either love or hate and there ain't no in-between.

Musk could come over as a Bond villain wanting world domination. You could easily see a Bond storyline where the 007 agent goes up against such a person.

As a proponent of AI, Musk, admitted one time, "You could be uploading a demon"! Referring to the danger that this tech could pose to humanity. In fact during their conversation Musk and Sunak joked about the 'Terminator' movies saying there should be an off-switch!

Sunak himself, during a speech, at the event, outlined the dangers of AI and the positives. For example, in the field of medical research and as an aid to humans in all fields. Sunak likes being in the company of men like Musk. He is in his capitalist element and awe of men like Musk. It was evident as they spoke and Sunak giggled along like a silly schoolgirl. Sunak was going out of his way to impress Musk as he welcomed him to the conference.

Sunak being seen with Musk might improve his poll ratings. Given Starmer's glitch over Gaza and not calling for a ceasefire. Sunak is probably hoping people will think he is forward-thinking in Musk's company. However, in the cold light of day, Starmer will get over this glitch. People especially, the poorest among us will not be, impressed with 'The Sunak and Musk Show'!

There is something about Rishi Sunak that he either doesn't realize or doesn't care too much about. That is whenever he is shown with notables he always looks like the junior partner. Whether it is meetings with Joe Biden, Emmanuel Macron, etc. His image and demeanour do not seem to cut it. Maybe it's his thin size, his evident youth (although he is 42/43), his look of being overwhelmed, and the hems of his trousers not being long enough. And sorry to say, in his meetings with Elon Musk, the same image, was presented by Sunak.

10 Downing Street has been 'bigging up' the attendance of Elon Musk at this conference. Sunak and Musk have much in common. They are both billionaires in their own right. They are 100% capitalists who have made money from the material world.

Sunak was in finance working as a hedge fund manager for JP Morgan. Wife Akshata Murty who has shares in her father's tech firm 'INFOSYS'. Becoming Chancellor under Johnson and eventually directly unelected to Prime Minister. The Son of Asian immigrants whose mother ran a pharmacy and dad was a doctor.

Elon Musk was also an immigrant from South Africa. Musk certainly is living the American dream. The country has made him what he is today. There seems to be no stopping this man with his space industry, his Tesla cars, and other ventures.

Like Sunak, politically, he could be regarded as on the right and very much a capitalist. He plans to establish come hell or high water, a settlement, on Mars. Some even think that Musk is an extraterrestrial. Mirroring David Bowie's alien character in 'The Man Who Fell to Earth".

About an alien from a Mars-like planet if it is not Mars. He comes to Earth to save his dying planet with resources from Earth.
