Problems with White Supremacy

My thoughts on the racial disorder that has caused nothing but pain and tension

If you have been paying attention to class and brushing up on historical evidence and accounts, you could pinpoint many instances of white supremacy. This isn't a case of racism in one country. It appears in many countries around the world which makes it another global pandemic that has ravaged the world for decades. How did this come about? We shall analyze its roots and determine the damage it has caused in present terms.

White supremacy is the belief that your white skin and genetics are irrevocably superior over others with different skin color. In their minds, the white Anglo-Saxon protestant measures up to be the consummate example of genetic perfection. This belief alone has caused tremendous conflict, war, distrust, hatred, and death. I don't know the numbers but I believe this form of racism is responsible for the deaths of millions of people around the world. They were either killed in an armed conflict or were executed by a heinous and hostile party. But white supremacy isn't always related to the worst case scenario such as death in the hands of killers. More subtle kinds of white supremacy are found in cases like gerrymandering, name-calling, bullying, harassment, conspiracy theories (Great Replacement), division, and pure ignorance. I understand the pain of the victims. Take it from me, I was and still am a victim of hate and indifference due to my cultural background. Even my German background and beliefs give people a reason to label me a Nazi which is categorically false. I have never condoned or will ever condone Nazi attacks, atrocities and destruction. Their most obvious case of evil thinking are the death camps and extermination of Jewish prisoners and others who fought against the Nazi regime. Their hatred for the Jewish population and anyone who didn't align with their Aryan beliefs is revolting. But to attack Germany only because of what happened during the Second World War is also unfair and wrong. Not everyone back then and certainly today have sanctioned what the Nazi regime has done. To every regime, there is a movement and an opposition to stop them.

Germany has done a terrific job in reconstruction and have contributed a lot to the global economy with their inventions, engineering, and innovations. England is also known for their grand contributions to the world stage especially with industrial achievements and music but you won't hear me complain and cry about what the English have done to the Irish, Welsh and Scots from the Middle Ages up to the Modern Era, or what British Imperialism has caused to many kingdoms and cultures all over the world. Countries like Germany, France, and England have done notorious things in the past but they have improved themselves and are putting great efforts in preventing the same events from reoccurring.

There are plenty of infamous cases of white supremacy in the history books. Many people do, in fact, know about the Apartheid regime in South Africa, the institution of slavery in the Southern states and the confederacy, the Jim Crow laws and forced segregation after the conclusion of the Plessy vs. Ferguson court case, the Nazi Party in Germany (1920-1945) and its allies in the Second World War, European imperialism and colonialism, the Klu Klux Klan and current neo-Nazi parties in many regions of the western world. As you can clearly see, there is no shortage of white supremacy events and bodies that keep the ideology in tact and fresh in many people's minds.

The United States of America is considered a haven for such extremism. The fact that many Americans and westerners are so hell-bent on preserving their freedoms and liberties from so-called fascist attacks on their right to freedom of speech, even if it means to denigrate and harm people of color and cultural background, is insane. One of the backbone and cornerstone beliefs of Western extremist thoughts conjured up by white extremists is the Great Replacement. It is a conspiracy theory that claims that non-White people and "replacist" elites from different parts of the world want to replace white culture and identity with foreign culture and identity. They signal immigration to be the root cause of this problem. In the worst case scenario, outright aggression and murder are carried out against people of color which, unfortunately, has happened many times. Many blacks were hanged or killed for the most trivial of things. This lack of control has caused unchecked media outlets such as Breitbart, InfoWars, and Fox News to promote dangerous agendas that have caused confusion, division, discrimination and racism in the population. It has allowed controversial people to question democratic institutions, peace and sense of belonging. Look no further than Donald Trump. He has a lengthy record of racial attacks against people of color such as unlawfully condemning the Central Park Five, not allowing black tenants to occupy his apartment buildings, attacking Hispanics and calling them rapists, imprisoning and separating their children at the border and some of them died in their cells. Furthermore, initiating the birther conspiracy theory against Barack Obama and Kamala Harris and not allowing Arabs to enter the United States from specific countries are more cases of downright racism. One of the most damning cases of white supremacy within the Trump administration is that Trump himself has received endorsements from radical white fringe groups such as neo-Nazis and the KKK. He will no doubt receive more support from them in the 2020 election.

I believe white supremacy has seen a strong resurgence under Trump's leadership. The most obvious sign of that are the Charlottesville riots in 2017. Images of white supremacists with tiki torches marching together and shouting in the night, and armed radicals with their confederate and Nazi flags standing together in a threatening manner have been immortalized. They feel more empowered than ever before because Trump has sanctioned their behavior. They feel that one of them is sitting in the oval office. It is extremely dangerous to have a man like Trump at the top of power. We can only hope that his reign will come to an end in the next election. Either that or impeachment.

The situation is so bad that white supremacy is evident in organized bodies such as law enforcement. Blacks dying in the hands of the police is a serious problem. This has happened again and again. There are many videos depicting the violence many blacks succumb to when they are detained. The clearest examples of such hate are the deaths of George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, Breonna Taylor and Michael Brown in the hands of law enforcement. Blacks are more susceptible to police violence than any other group. They are terribly mistreated and often end up in hospital or die of their injuries. Trump and his government and state governments have done nothing to stop it. This injustice has forced the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement to shed more light on police violence against blacks. I, for one, support them. Since their founding, more has been done to protect blacks and punish instigators and aggressors who have caused the pain. The violence has to stop.

I find that Freedom of speech ends when you spread hate and racism. There is no question about it. Too many innocent people have suffered under the extremist regime of white supremacy. In essence, we are all the same. We have the same interests, goals, and desires to accomplish specific tasks. Diversity and inclusion facilitates togetherness and unity which helps to blossom a community and keep it vibrant. When everyone works together, a lot of challenges can be overcome. Furthermore, more peace and prosperity brings about better economic performance. In this case, everybody wins. The only difference we can see are the colors of our skin. That is it.

White supremacists fill their lives with hate, lies and violence. Can you imagine how much they ache internally? They are also terribly uneducated and suffer a lot under their misconceptions. I wonder how much pain they inflict upon themselves whenever they spew fundamentally flawed and racial viewpoints to others. They are only hurting themselves and will live a life of dissatisfaction if they continue. In the end, they will lose no matter what.
