Mrs. Biden and Kamala Harris Will Attend Instead.

President Joe Boden.

Mark Dolan of right-wing UK media outlet GB News waxed lyrical about why Mr. Biden will not be attending Prince Charles' coronation. Mark Dolan said Biden's refusal to attend the coronation was a snub to the UK.

Mr. Dolan said Biden was a doddery old man who spent most of his time asleep. Mark Dolan is known for his tirades against subjects he has no time for. This time it was for the elderly Joe Biden for "snubbing" the coronation.

Mrs. Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris are expected to attend the ceremony. No sitting US President has ever attended a British King or Queen's coronation. President Regan did not attend the wedding of Charles or Diana instead he sent someone else.

Mr. Biden did, however, attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II along with his wife. Many say it is because of Biden's Irish roots that are stopping him from attending Charles's coronation.

Mr. Biden likes to play on his Irishness every time he gets an opportunity. Obviously, this goes down well with Irish Americans and Catholic voters in particular.

The Democratic party has strong links with Irish Americans. Take JKF or other notable Irish American politicians. In his younger days, Biden used to play on his similarity to Kennedy of being Irish.

We all know the history of the troubles between the UK and Ireland. Relations have always been troubled between the two countries. Largely because of Britain's colonial mentality towards Ireland. Biden voted against the extradition of IRA members hiding out or living in the US. Mr. Biden as President blatantly interferes with and expresses opinions about Northern Ireland. If the UK did such a thing on US foreign or internal policy the US would tell the UK where to go.

Charles has been groomed all of his life to be ready to take over from his now-late mother. At 74 Charles comes to the throne late. Once his mother had passed Charles was declared King. The coronation is just the official confirmation of a position that Charles III will hold until his death. Or is too ill to carry out the duties of a monarch any more?

Many thought he would waive the chance to be King and hand it over to William. This was a naive thought. Those who know Charles will tell you he was ready to replace the Queen at any time. Charles will become King and rule with Queen Consort Camilla. However, as a constitutional monarch, Charles has no real power as such. Charles as Prince had quite a reputation for expressing his opinions on issues. Now as the King he has to reign that in. Charles so far seems to be doing that. However, he will no doubt be telling Rishi Sunak what he thinks in private. The King and Prime Minister have regular weekly meetings.

How Americans will react to their President not going to the coronation is unknown? Certainly, the Royals are very popular amongst many Americans. The Royals and their exploits take centre stage in many US media outlets and newspapers. Meghan and Harry reside in the US. Even as rebel Royals, there is much interest from Americans. They are supposedly attending Charles' coronation.

What President Biden doesn't admit to or play up much is his English heritage. Probably because amongst Irish Americans this wouldn't go down too well. Even now there is still much bitterness towards the UK over its treatment of the Irish. Nevertheless, Biden has English roots too. Biden even has an English cousin living today in England.

Other world leaders and royals from Europe and around the world will be attending. Some seem to think it is Biden's age of 80 that has stopped him from attending. While there might be truth in this it did not stop him from attending the Queen's funeral.

The UK and the US have since WWII been strong friends. Americans and British armed forces have fought, died, and been injured on the battlefield together. Many Americans have a fondness for the UK. Many Americans have UK roots. In the Ukraine-Russia war, the US and UK are on the same side as members of NATO.

Some Presidents have been closer to the UK like Roosevelt and most recently Trump. With Obama and now Biden the relationship is close but not that close because of historical events.
