MP and Rock Star in I'm A Celeb Get Me Out Of Here.

MP Matt Hancock.

The question has to be posed do people like MP Matt Hancock and Rock Star Boy George really need to appear in 'I'm A Celeb'? Boy George or George O'Dowd is the singer in one of the most successful 80s bands who still tour. The man is a multi-millionaire perhaps a billionaire who recently sold his £18 million mansion in an exclusive area of London. Plus all the money he makes from performing with Mikey Craig, and Roy Hay, aka Culture Club. John Moss seems to have departed the band a while ago.

So George does not need the money? This former working-class boy is set for life. He is the highest-paid star to ever appear on the show. Mr. O'Dowd is being paid £500,000 for just appearing on the show. George could have easily waived the fee or donated it to charity.

Matt Hancock once Health Secretary under Bojo is paid £400,000 by the show. The Newcastle-supporting MP (that's the only thing I can forgive him for!) has been suspended from the Conservatives whilst cavorting in the show. Is he still being paid his MP's fee though? And if so, that is plain wrong, whilst eating kangaroo penises his parliamentary salary should also be suspended.

The MP left his job as Health Secretary when he was caught on CCTV clinching his secretary. They were kissing as Mr. Hancock held her backside. The picture was splashed all over the media but Mr. Hancock felt no shame. Now he is appearing on ITV's "I'm A Celeb". The reason being he wants to seem more ordinary and in touch with ordinary people.

His constituents might respect him more if he did his job representing those who voted him in. Hancock, it would appear just wants fame perhaps fearing he might lose his seat at the next general election. In which case, if he becomes a TV star he will have that to fall back on. Especially, if he wins, however, it appears Mr. O'Dowd is vying for the title 'King of the Jungle' also.

George is not the only music personality to have appeared on the show. Johnny Lydon aka Rotten briefly appeared but left soon after. Also, Hancock was preceded by another Conservative MP Nadine Doris.

George appearing on the show is a first. George was asked before to appear but refused in the past. George said to presenters Ant and Dec he would appear "only if vegetarian food was available". To his surprise, (George's words) the duo said "yes, veggie and vegan alternatives were available". So George agreed to appear but wondered if he had done the right thing. And maybe, for good reason.

The show uses live animals, dead animals, or parts of animals in what they call the 'Bush Tucker' trials. Where celebs eat part of an animal such as testicles. How long these celebs can endure these ordeals depends on them.

Animals are also used in games of endurance where celebs are surrounded by snakes, rats, worms, etc. Again, it's a question of how long a celeb can put up with having these creatures poured over them, etc.

The RSPCA, PETA, and other animal welfare groups have accused presenters Ant and Dec of endorsing cruelty. Also, the show calls certain creatures featured "horrible", and "scary". The show has been accused of promoting animal abuse. Animal welfare groups have asked producers not to use animals as entertainment. They have suggested if Ant and Dec cared for animals, they would leave the show. They won't they are being paid handsomely for it and the show keeps them in the ratings. As does their other ITV offering 'Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Take Away'.

The two presenters have introduced the show for two decades. Ant and Dec hailing from Newcastle started off a child stars in 'Byker Grove'. They hit the charts with 'Let's Get Ready To Rumble' in their younger days. Since then they have become the biggest duo on tv since Morecambe and Wise and The Two Ronnies. The difference is the above-mentioned duos were funny, I find nothing funny about Ant and Dec.

Boy George is a veggie and animal rights activist. I was surprised when I heard he was appearing on the show. He probably thinks by not eating parts of animals makes him saintly. However, by appearing and taking part he is endorsing the humiliation of human beings (though it is their choice to appear).

Whereas the animals at least the live ones, do not get a choice. Sorry, George but by appearing in this Roman form of entertainment of humiliation and cruelty, you have gone down in my estimation.

As for Hancock I didn't expect anything different and shows the calibre of people who are supposedly representatives of the people. No doubt, there are many MPs who serve their constituents regardless of politics.

Hancock was elected as an MP to represent those that put him there. Now all he is doing is feathering his own nest and representing his own interests.
