HOW SPECIESISM IS DESTROYING THE WORLD

There's too much hate.

What is speciesism you ask? Well, it’s a belief that spreads globally. It’s an old mindset that still exists today and needs to be extinguished.

The proper definitions are: 1. prejudice or discrimination based on species, especially discrimination against animals. 2. the assumption of human superiority.

Ring a bell? Yeah, I’m sure your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and maybe even you have this belief without realizing it. And it doesn’t stop there. It goes way back to our ancestors.

*Just because our ancestors did something, doesn’t mean it was right and we should do it too. Our ancestors did a lot of things (horrible things) that we don’t do today. One example: the Salem witch trials. Remember that.*

This bias is simply based on species only. Humans are superior, in other words better than, all other species (animals). That is all. All human lives are better than animal lives. Let me put this in perspective for you. For example, because speciesism is the philosophy that humans, our species as a whole, is better than animals, a serial killer’s life is more valuable than a dog’s. Does that sound right to you?

Hell no. The idea that human lives matter more than any other is quite egotistical. And I’m not just talking about the extremes: comparing a serial killer’s life to a sweet dog’s life. Why is any human life better than any animal life? The fact that speciesism, created by humans, is even a thing, suggests the opposite: animals are better than humans. Mm?

As the great human, Joaguin Phoenix, says “We are all animals”. And it is true. We all are sentient beings. We all feel love and pain. We are all intelligent. We all have talents. There is no superior being (except for psychopathic/sociopathic serial killers and what not-obviously we are all superior to them. Lol.)

Now, let’s talk about people eating meat. It goes back to speciesism. It is why humans started eating animals in the first place. “Animals are inferior to us, so we will kill and eat them to survive.” Speciesism is why people started to and continue to hunt and eat animals. Meanwhile, plants have always existed. But instead of hunting for mushrooms, humans hunted animals. Why is that? Because it was easier? What does that say about the human race? That’s a whole other post, but just think about that.

Speciesism isn’t just the cause of humans eating animals, it’s the cause of all animal hate: animal testing/experimentation, animal abuse, animal exploitation for entertainment (like circus’), and animal killings (shootings, burning, stabbing, etc). I’ll ask this question again: why are humans so great?

Even though I could go on and on about the hate and cruelty to animals, let’s now move on to other social problems that stem from speciesism. From what I stated above, it’s pretty clear that humans have a superiority complex. So why would they stop at animals?

I believe all hate stems from speciesism. “Humans are the superior species, so who are the superior humans?” Well…I think we can all guess which race thinks they are the superior humans. Animals are inferior to all humans, now who are the inferior humans? This is where racism comes in. This is where homophobia/transphobia comes in. And this is where sexism comes in.

“White people are superior (which has lead to White Supremacy)”. “Heterosexual people are superior”. “Men are superior.” This mindset has lead to hate crimes, police brutality, sexual misconduct, and more. It’s a serious problem. You’d think the human race/species wants the world to be full of hate. They’re the ones creating it in the first place. And yes, “they” are the ones. I am apart of the human species/race, but I am not apart of the human group that believe these things and acts in these ways.

Basically, I believe humans have a huge ego and superiority complex, so much so, that there needs to be a superior species and superior human. And this is a huge problem, which is leading to all the social problems in the world. (In my opinion.) There is no superior being. We are all animals. We are all sentient beings. We are all on this earth together.

*I know not all humans are like this. There are good human beings out there who do not participate in speciesism, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. But there are still enough people who do, and it’s not doing the world any good. I applaud the people who go against and are fighting these issues. Especially those who are going against their own families. We need more love and less hate in this world.*

I could probably go on some more, but I’ll stop here before this becomes a ranting essay (lol). What do you think? Do you think all the social problems we are experiencing go back to speciesism, or no? I think we can all agree that the hate is destroying the world.
