The world is thinking of you.

Dear America,

We are sorry for what you are going through right now. This is not the way to discover that you’re not the greatest country in the world. You don’t deserve to experience what is happening here, but to remain ignorant, when the data is evident, would be foolish.

Perhaps you are now catching up to what the rest of the world already knew. We have been observing you for a long time. We listen to what you have to say through your politics, your celebrities, your world status, your money, your ego and your loudness. We have witnessed this arrogance for many years. We watch all your shenanigans and yet still your people claim that you’ve got it made.

The land of opportunity they say? What does that even mean as we navigate our way through these uncertain times? No country should ever claim to be the best country in the world.

Did you know that a large percentage of American people have never even travelled outside of America? Yet they stand tall, shouting from their rooftops that AMERICA IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH!!! Compared to what?

Yes, you are a powerful country who is always at the top of the leader board in many areas, but this is one leader board you don’t want to be at the top of. There is no gold medal here to strive for and no-one wants first place on this global tally.

Right now, you have the brightest spotlight shining on you as you stand on the world’s stage, but this is one time you probably want someone to quickly dim the lights. Unfortunately, it’s a little late for that America; the whole world is watching in real time. The underlying issues your country has had for many years are now being revealed.

How do we even decide what country is the best in the world? Our priorities have changed. Who would have thought that a virus of this proportion would come along in 2020 and as a result, would inevitably put all of us under a microscope? If we take a closer look at what we’re dealing with here, what is it we’re really discovering?

We are seeing that the best country in the world is the country with the least amount of deaths based on approximate numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Who would have thought?

Naturally the number of confirmed cases doesn’t include the thousands of people around the world who have the disease but have not been tested, so all we’ve got to go by is confirmed cases versus number of deaths.

So therefore, this would indicate that some of the best countries in the world right now are the countries who are better at protecting their people. Countries that have a health care system in place that is saving the most amount of human lives. This pandemic is revealing every country’s level of healthcare and their citizen’s access to that healthcare. It is that simple.

This is a revelation.

It’s not a wakeup call for only you America, this is a wakeup call for the entire world. We all have lessons to learn here; individually and globally.

We must stand united in order to get through this and we must take some accountability for where we find ourselves and we must continue to believe and work towards a better tomorrow.

When this is over, may there be no such thing as discrimination of any kind.

When this is over, may this experience create an undeniable connection between all of us, where no one is superior to another.

When this is over, may there be only one race left standing, only one race that survived this; THE HUMAN RACE.
