Billionaires Are Financial Cancer

No One Should Be A Billionaire

Introduction

I have included an old TED talk by Nick Hanauer, who is one of the good guys:

He is a rich guy, an unrepentant capitalist โ€” and he has something to say to his fellow plutocrats: Wake up! Growing inequality is about to push our societies into conditions resembling pre-revolutionary France. Hear his argument about why a dramatic increase in minimum wage could grow the middle class, deliver economic prosperity ... and prevent a revolution.

This is just a drawing together of two seemingly unconnected facts brought together by the world we are living in now. I think if these unfeasibly moneyed individuals did something good with their money, like solving world hunger and poverty, we may not see them as the problem they are, but they are like spoiled school bullies.

Why Are Billionaires Financial Cancer?

Many years ago, I read one of the most informative books in my library (which has since been updated), "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. I also went to see him on his promotional tour with some friends, and the nearest pub to the venue was in Newcastle's Pink Triangle, and two young ladies came up to us and asked if we were gay, to which we replied: "Of course".

Anyway, one of the things in the book was about the nature of the cells of the human body, on how they grow and die off and are continually replaced. That is the basic nature of the human (and I suppose any) body.

What happens with cancer is that the cells do not die off, and then the cancer takes more and more resources, eventually killing off its host. Cancer is cancer because the cells do not die as they should.

Now look at an economy.

People get money, and they spend it, first on essentials amd then if they have enough, maybe they save some, and buy something like a car or a house.

The spending of the money is like the dying of the cells and this keeps economies healthy. It is the movement of money between various entities that keeps it in good health.

I know this is a very simplistic analogy, but that is basically what happens.

However, since the seventies, various economic changes encouraged by Thatcher and Reagan have resulted in money being accumulated by fewer and fewer individuals, resulting in their billionaire status.

Most people cannot conceive what this means, but this is an illustration

The concentration of wealth in this form is wrong. A billionaire could never spend the money he has accumulated.

There is talk of Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire, and that is morally abhorrent.

The thing is, large amounts of money attract more money, where for most people, money is spent and moves around the economy and keeps it healthy.

The thing is, billionaires suck money and life from the economy, often destroying the lives of the ones who fuel the economy and keep it going. Billionaires are society's and Finance's cancers and do need to be controlled and removed.

Conclusion

I wish I had an answer to this, but too many people are more bothered with their favourite TV programs or certain events. We have wars that are started to sell weapons, when it used to be that weapons were made to stop wars.

Every war that is going on is lining some billionaires' pockets, and they will keep those wars going.

One other movement is to replace as many jobs as possible with AI, but if that happens, who will be able to buy the products?

Thank you so much for reading, but each day I think that the only answer is revolution, but I hope it can be done peacefully.
