The Dangers of Crypto Investing

Central Miners - Beware

By Charlene Whelan Published 2 years ago • 3 min read

It all started with those casual connections online. Either via facebook or instagram they seem just the same.

You chat, you befriend, essentially... you're being groomed and not in a good way. You see they build trust, and make you believe they're a normal everyday person. Then suddenly "hey I just withdraw ____ would you be intersted in seeing the platform I use?" (or something along those lines!)

Everyone needs that break, so was I tempted? YES! Of course, and you always hear how those 'in the know' and the rich become rich through investing.

We've all heard the stories though, of the scams and the things that go wrong, so I want to share another with you about a company called

https://centralminers.com/

It all begins with a simple $100 deposit. Easy enough. The first deposit and withdrawals go through. Awesome! So you invest another $100, in trust that it will grow.

Overnight, after your first couple of weeks, you've suddenly won a 'prize'! Oh FANTASTIC! You think. But here's the catch. There's a $700 fee to withdraw said prize. 🤔

Hmmm, they give a good tale, and also tell you that unless you're able to pay the $700, you loose everything you've deposited so far. Sad right! So in hopes of a) claiming that prize money and b) not loosing your funds - you deposit.

But then there's an iCard to purchase. 🙄 Another $500.

And perhaps it is all legit, and perhaps its all my fault as I was late with another demanded deposit however - this late fee they're claiming I have to pay to unlock my funds including the prize money with "I guarantee if you transfer now I will personally approve your withdrawal" - is another $500USD.

I've used Coinspot as my chosen wallet being in Australia, and after transferring said request - apparently its short $150! Due to some 'lickage' as they keep saying.

In the end, after another deposit with another shortfall - they said they'd only accept the $500 in full, in one transaction. That was the only solution to unfreeze my account.

By now, its already $5000AUD in the hole. So another $1000 (after fees, and transfer rates as its all in USD for them) I would apparently be able to withdraw my funds that now total over $70,000. It seems enticing, paying $1000 to receive $70,000 - but this I believe is how they get you.

They tell you that's all thats left.

They make you believe one last transfer will solve all the problems.

But then as soon as they try to 'process the withdrawal' theres yet another thing that apparently - only more deposits to them will solve!

So BEWARE! Its true what they say - only invest with what you're prepared to lose as you never know what seems ok in the beginning, could turn out to be your worst nightmare!
