Come one, come all to the exciting world of crypto; where everyone has potential wealth at their finger tips. The crypto currency world is a magical place filled with young complex minds and new notions of economics that our wall-street-fathers could never fathom. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. You must first understand the basics in order to truly embrace this new currency.

Crypto currency is digital currency. You can use crypto currency to buy and sell goods on the internet. The largest appeal of crypto currency is its decentralization. It works using technology called blockchain. You will hear this word often. Blockchain is decentralized, meaning it is spread across the world on many different computers. These computers manage all records of transactions. Decentralized technology is ideal when it comes to monetary technology.

In simple terms for the nay-sayers, no a computer somewhere cannot just crash and lose all your money. No, a hacker cannot just easily hack into something and access all your money. Because your crypto currency is decentralized, it is spread all over the world wide web and no single computer is holding it. It is, in essence far safer than the dollar bill in your wallet right now. Your wallet can be stolen, then you have no more money because your money was centralized (in one place). If you have a crypto wallet, no one can just snatch it up because it is decentralized (not all in one place).

Companies have created their own currencies, called tokens. The first was...drum roll... BITCOIN! Did I say that with enough enthusiasm? Bitcoin (BTC) was created and implemented by Satoshi Nakamoto. Now there are many other tokens worthy of note such as Ethereum (ETH). Ethereum has an utopian approach to finance, creating decentralized apps (DApps) built to run with no fraud or third party interference. Ideally anyone in the world can have free access to Ethereum and its platforms. Others include Litecoin (LTC), Polkadot (DOT), Stellar (XLM), Monero (XMR), and Cosmos (ATOM). But there are many, many more! I highly suggest taking the time to look up information about any token before investing. Read from their company site and then also search news articles about the token. Some companies are not as reliable as other. First major lesson, educate yourself before investing. The crypto world is so amazing on so many levels but much like everything man creates, it also has it flaws. Do your homework and don't be naive.
