Bitcoin’s Rising Sun

The Origin of Cryptocurrency

“Dude, this movie is epic!”

“Right? I think this is the fifth time I've seen 'Rising Sun' and it amazes me every time”, as he inhales another puff on the joint.

“You can be like Sean Connery and I’ll be Wesley Snipes since I have the street smarts and you’re just old.”

“Whatever dude. I’m more like Snipes, now puff puff pass!”

The doorbell rings and the pizza arrives. $12.50 guys.

“Do you have any cash? I only have a 10.”

“I thought you had money!”

The pizza delivery driver leaves with his large banana pepper and pepperoni pie as the two stoners go hungry.

“Man, why do things have to get so expensive? We should create money so people can just deliver pizza here and the government isn’t making the prices increase.”

“Totally! I’m starving man!”

“What if we get busted? Or what if it actually works and people try to rob us?”

“We’ll just make up a guy so they don’t know where we actually live.”

“Yes! Let’s make him the owner of Nakamoto like in the movie.”

“Cool, what should his first name be?”

“What about Satoshi. Kon has produced some amazing films. Did you see ‘Perfect Blue’? It totally blurs the lines between fantasy and reality. Kinda like what we are doing.”

“Satoshi Nakamoto it is then. Let’s make him a Wikipedia page and make it official.”

The two start hashing out a plan to create their own currency. With the rate of inflation and the government controlling all entities, this idea needed to be something different. Something where there is only a certain amount of total currency to not let governments and banks literally hold all to money in their baskets. “Decentralize the money! A worldwide currency managed by the people, for the people!”

“Dude, code it.”

As their plan started to grow, so did their network of others jumping on board with the insane idea of taking on global financial institutions. “This thing needs to go international! Dude, move to London and set it up over there too.”

As the code grew, so did their users. The cryptocurrency took on a life of its own.

“How is that rainy weather over there?”

“I could really go for a pizza right about now.”

“Then order one!”

“I just spent my last cash on Bitcoin. Dude, I’ll send you 10,000 coin if you send me a pizza.”

“On its way my man.”

To date, that pizza cost him $479,433,000.00 USD but I’m sure it was delicious… With that transaction, bitcoin began trading for deliverable goods and services. Growing from a single international pizza delivery to virtual wallets accessed by millions around the world, Bitcoin prices began soaring. Having their tech in place and security patches up to date, the roll-out of marketing and users were pushed to build the crypto concept. Sales managers were hired to visit retail stores and have them begin accepting bitcoin transactions to pay for items. Data mining facilities were upgraded to seek out new coins. Savings accounts were opened to generate interest on saved bitcoin. Every tactic that a general financial establishment would use was being translated into this new currency.

“How’s the mining going over there dude?”

“Going well. The account is up to almost 900,000 coin. Can you believe it?”

“That’s great man. What’s the end game?”

“What do you mean endgame? We got this on lock.”

“What if this whole thing crashes and burns? We need an endgame in place to secure what we have built.”

“I gotcha. Instead of an endgame though, let’s just bookmark this as ending chapter. We’ll start fresh in this new wave and just hold what we’ve stored so far. Just collect the interest and go from there.”

“Sounds like a plan, my man.”

Finally being recognized by international treasuries and global organizations to this day, there is no end in sight for the financial potential these coders developed to disrupt financial institutions and the way we view currency today.

This, my friends, is the narrative I wholeheartedly believe to be true. Don’t believe me? Just ask the founders themselves.
