A Scottish watch brand that is quickly becoming a ‘must have’ accessory among celebrities and football players alike has launched a new collection perfect for supporters of Glasgow’s big two football clubs.

Rival Collection

JJ Monaghan watches are the latest trend that influencers are falling over themselves to be pictured with after being seen on the wrist of top stars including Martin Compston and Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Everyone from Still Game stars, actors, Old Firm and Scotland players and other well known faces have been pictured wearing the watches in recent weeks.

Its new Rival Collection comes in Green or Blue and is tipped to become a new favourite throughout the city.

Costing £120 the top of the range timepieces have already been endorsed by football stars including Celtic’s Josip Juranovic and Scotland star Lyndon Dykes.

Other stars to be pictured wearing the watches include Rangers defender John Souttar, Open Goal host Si Ferry, Scotland women’s international Claire Emslie, Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon, Line of Duty star Martin Compston and Boaby the Barman actor Gavin Mitchell.

‘Fiji Water Girl’ Kelleth Cuthbert, who stole the show on the Golden Globes red carpet earlier this year, earning the moniker.

The Canadian model and actress has also lent her support to JJ Monaghan watches, and was pictured sporting the Blossom Purple from the women’s collection.

Sweet Sixteen and The Wee Man actor Martin Compston also personally requested the watches for his BBC programme series The Nest.

Launched by Montrose man Jason Monaghan in 2017 the Glasgow brand quickly built up a cult following that has grown arms and legs in recent months.

Jason manages the full project independently and manages it all from building the website and taking pictures to packing the orders and sending them off to customers the length and breadth of the UK and beyond.

He said: “Receiving a call that Martin Compston wanted to wear our watches for the new BBC show The Nest and finally seeing it on screen this year was a monumental milestone and I had felt it was such an absurd dream that it had never been one of my goals.

“That being said, one goal I’ve always had for JJ Monaghan is to get our watches into an independent store. I often receive calls from customers wanting to check out our products in person, so having a store where they could physically see and feel our watches would help our customers make decisions on our products.

I have always had a passion for watches and felt I could bring something new to the watch market. I saved up money from my full-time job and placed an order for my first collection. When my first collection arrived, I went about photographing them, building our website, creating all marketing material and reaching out to celebrities to see if they would like the brand as much as I hoped they would. Luckily, lots of them did! Big shout out to my brother for helping me fund my second collection!

While the brand is growing, all the profits go back into the company so I can improve and grow it even more.”

The watches have also become a wedding favourite with over twenty couple’s big days being kitted out with groomsmen packages.

The watches have been described as “a perfect way for the groom to show his love and appreciation to his friends who will stand by his side on his big day”.

Prices of JJ Monaghan watches range from around £70 to £120 and are available from the JJ Monaghan website here.
