Things to Spend Your Money on If You Have Any Kind of Anxiety

... & we all do.

Since I’m writing for the Psyche section right now, I wanted to talk anxiety. You can’t realistically say you have zero stressors in life nor any kind of anxiety. I mean, we’re in the modern age where people are screaming at you things to BUY to compensate for your out-of-control-mind. THAT’s where we’re at in 2019.

Kicking it off is:

1- Weighted Blankets:

With our sights set firmly on winter and fall, our sights are also set firmly on the weighted blankets. The only downfall with a product like this is that to stay warm, luxurious, and super Benadryl-feeling'ed-out, you gotta spend a small fortune. The price ranges anywhere between $79.99-$200.00, and that's a very ROUGH estimate for something so soft.

I swear I'm not trying to cause you FINANCIAL issues on TOP of your anxious nature (seeing as you clicked on this link, I hereby announce you anxiety-ridden).

The one above is believed to range on Amazon, apparently, throughout the day, as I checked many times today, between $79.99-100. Unfortunately for us, these bad boys don't run cheaper than $50 and that's a solid fact. This one is good on all counts but this one. It will have your anxieties washed away in one warm-up.

Top qualities:

  • it's made for actual king/queen beds (unlike many others that state they are but are just trying to give you a hard time and turn you into a monster and lose it when it doesn't fit properly)
  • 400 thread count breathable cotton
  • machine-washable (because washing comforters by hand THIS big would be a real pain in the-)

Negative qualities:

  • pricing issue

2- Happy Lamps

Happy Lamps, contrary to weighted blankets, state exactly what they are. Weighted blankets make it sound like the weight of the world will be over you when in general, it's really meaning the opposite. When my grandma bought me a happy lamp for my birthday, it was quite literally such a happy moment. I felt like once I tried it out, I could never go back. I won't lie, I have no idea how these boost your serotonin but since I stopped taking prozac and I'm still alive and not shaking everyday, it makes me realize it's doing quite the job. I have more energy than I ever did before (as promised with these contraptions), I'm able to write for longer periods at a time so it calmed my ADHD pretty well, and it's definitely given me more ability to deal with the darker months that await us with my touch of seasonal affective disorder and all.

Top Qualities:

  • It delivers the effective amount of light intensity and treatment to treat seasonal affective disorder; help out insomnia, helps out sunlight deprivation, jet-lag, office shifts, and pretty much CURES CANCER at this point.
  • Tablet design; foldable: can take anywhere
  • Price: $59.95 CAD

3- Melatonin

Melatonin was recommended to me by a friend to get through the nights of restless slumber. We've all been there: when months go by and by and you can't quite put your finger on the issue occurring deep-down to sleep properly. You want desperately to sleep but CAN'T. It's the definition of a living nightmare. Melatonin is a natural hormone occurring in our bodies to tell our minds when it's tired enough to hit the sack. But some people need that extra melatonin. I'm some people.

Top Qualities:

  • It's NATURAL.
  • Extra strength works in 15 minutes or less.
  • You will be sleeping like A BABY, regardless of your insomniac-like situation.
  • Unlike Benadryl and other things used as sleeping aids, this stuff makes you TIRED, not DROWSY. And you will not feel the drowsy consequences of the pill in the morning.

4- Audible Subscriptions

What’s more relaxing than a good book? One being read soothingly into your ears FOR you! This changed my sleeping schedule DRASTICALLY. On top of the melatonin, the Audible-in-ears calls out to me at night to put my earphones in. There are so many options to choose from; I recommend NOT utilizing self-help books before bed, unless you want to go a bit mad. Even not used before sleep, it's soothing as hell to hear some twinkle-lights-fairy-dust-character voiced by Tinkerbell in your ears during a hectic day.

Recommendations:

  • Girl Wash Your Face (self help book- so only during the day folks!)
  • Game of Thrones (you'll most probably never read it unless it's read TO you)

Top Qualities:

  • You can pause it and bookmark where you're at for those of us that listen before we sleep and almost always lose our place!
  • Millions of books to choose from
  • Entertainment on top of being soothing

5- An Essential Oil Diffuser

Essential oil diffusers are cool because you kind of HAVE to buy the essential oils for it and so you end up using them for more soothing-anxiety-RIDDING things like skincare, or to blend it into your body cream and spread against your bod (didn't have to say it like that but you know...).

An essential oil DIFFUSER is life-changing! Firstly, you'll be soothed to the bone with the different essential oil smells you can pick from. Then, there's the benefit being that depending on different ones, some can CALM anxiety, ADHD, depression, and chlamydia. No, but the first three. Not too shabby. Energy-boosting ones are good for people like me that have anxiety and don't know what to do with it so they take it out by going rock-climbing, skateboarding, and other reckless-but-healthy lifestyle tips and tricks.

Top Qualities:

  • Breathable air again!
  • Calming/energizing
  • Smells nice
  • Light-color changes are a personal fave of mine so may be a tad biased!
