This is because Gibeon had made peace with Joshua and the children of Israel. This 5 kings sort to destroy the people who had aligned with peace . But God stood with Joshua and gave him victory over his enemies the 5 kings . Joshua smite them and slew them and hung them on 5 trees and they hung there until evening.
