Kylian Mbappe, full name Kylian Sanmi Mbappe Lottin, was born in Bondi, Seine-Saint-Denis, France, on 20 December 1998. He is a dual French and Cameroonian citizen. French professional football player and striker, currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain football club in the French First Division.

At 24, Mbappe is unquestionably one of the biggest players in the game today, with "youth" and "youth" being the most obvious labels on him. He also scored the first goal of the World Cup against Peru in Russia, making him the youngest player to score in the history of the World Cup for France. The Parisian striker, who rose to fame as a teenager, is a true "debut at the top". Today we take a look back at Mbappe's legendary upbringing.

Shining stars of the future:

On December 20, 1998, Mbappe entered the world smoothly. His father was a football coach and his mother was a handball player. Born into a sporting family, Mbappe has inherited the athletic talents of his father and mother, so it makes sense for him to choose soccer. He was introduced to football by his father at the age of four and joined his father's team at the age of five. He always had to face older opponents because of his father's special care, but Mbappe adapted quickly and made rapid progress, and at the age of 11 he joined the Clairefontaine National Academy, one of the most famous youth talent bases in France. He worked hard on his technique while still having talent, and that was when he developed the focused training attitude, great sense of the ball, and solid foundation.

The talented Mbappe soon became known to many star teams, including English Premier League powerhouse Chelsea who invited him to England for a trial at the age of 12. Under the arrangement of French great Zinedine Zidane, Mbappe also went to Real Madrid to take part in the test; Even Paris Saint-Germain, his favourite team as a boy, was interested in nurturing him. However, Mbappe's parents turned down the offer to train at Monaco's academy after much consideration. It is a more perfect stage for a young player than a big-name club: a good youth system, steady access to football and a constant showcase for young players, but Mbappe was not appreciated when he first arrived at Monaco.

Mbappedo was an unused substitute for Monaco's second team during the 2013-14 season. But thanks to the training he received from his father during his childhood, his talent emerged and he was promoted to the first team. On December 2, 2015, Monaco made his first-team debut, breaking Thierry Henry's 21-year record as the youngest player to make a first-team appearance at the age of 16 years 347 days. Meanwhile, Mbappe's Monaco debut came just months after joining the first team, when he scored a stoppage-time goal against Troyes in February 2016 at the age of 17 and 62 days to break the record held by Thierry Henry as Monaco's youngest ever scorer. Despite only playing 14 games in the 2015-16 season, his performances have been widely recognized and the rising star of French football has finally won the attention of major clubs, finally being locked up by Monaco in March to sign a professional contract.

A rising and thwarted forward:

2016-17 was the season when Mbappe really stepped up to the top. This season, he has made Monaco a real "big dark horse". In the league, he scored 15 goals and provided seven assists, scoring his first hat-trick in Ligue 1 against Metz. And most importantly, to help the team beat Greater Paris for the league title. In the Champions League, Mbappe scored consecutive goals in the knockout stage, becoming the reason for the elimination of Blue Moon. Against Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals, Mbappe scored three goals himself. In the semifinals, although lost to Juve, but still scored 1 goal.

It is Mbappe's impressive form this season that has made him the target of competition from major clubs. Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal are among the clubs keen to sign Mbappe and his family, and even visited France after the season to try and persuade them. It took Paris Saint-Germain until the final day of the transfer window to announce Mbappe's signing for a loan and buyout of 180 million euros, making the 18-year-old the second most expensive star in the world behind new teammate Neymar. For Mbappe, wearing the Paris Saint-Germain shirt is a huge honour as he grew up supporting the club.

After moving to Paris Germain, Mbappe quickly adapted to his new team's tactical system and in September 2017, he scored his first goal for Paris in a 5-1 win against Metz in Ligue 1. Mbappe scored his first goal in the Champions League this season in the opening match of the group stage on September 13. On October 9, Mbappe was named on the shortlist for the 2017 FIFA World Player of the Year award. On October 23, Mbappe won the 2017 European Golden Boy Award with 291 votes, ahead of Jesus and Dembele. On November 5, Mbappe became the youngest player to reach 20 league goals in Ligue 1 since 1977 when he scored two goals and provided one assist in Paris Saint-Germain's 12th round match against Angers. On Dec 1, Mbappe was included in the shortlist for the 2017 Globo Football Award, and on Dec 6, he became the youngest player in the history of the Champions League to score 10 goals when he scored one goal for Paris Saint-Germain away to Bayern in the sixth round of the Champions League Group B.

On 14 May 2018, Mbappe won the 2017-2018 Ligue 1 Rookie of the Year award and was named in the 2017-2018 Ligue 1 Team of the Year. Mbappe scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in 27 Ligue 1 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain during the 2017-2018 season, helping them win the Ligue 1 title that season. Made 5 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain in the French Cup, scoring 4 goals and contributing 3 assists as Paris Saint-Germain won the French Cup this season; Made 4 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain in the French League Cup and made 2 assists as Paris Saint-Germain won the French League Cup that season. Mbappe has scored four goals and provided three assists in eight appearances for Paris in the Champions League.

Mbappe was widely expected to be the next best thing to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but his performances for the club have fallen short of fans' expectations since the World Cup. When the time came for the much-anticipated Euro 2021 quarter-final, Switzerland fought hard to win the penalty shootout. Mbappe, the fifth player, was standing 12 yards in front to dominate France's fate, but his spot-kick was saved by Swiss goalkeeper Sommer. Mbappe blamed himself for the criticism from the media and fans after the match. His missed penalty was one of the biggest setbacks of his career so far, and he needs to adjust his mind, take a hard look at himself and return to the top of his game in the best possible way.

No one's life will be smooth sailing, in the process of chasing dreams always have to go through setbacks and frustrations, in order to become a better themselves. The missed penalty in the European Championship was an opportunity for Mbappe to define himself, to leave behind the glory and glory of the past, to taste the bitterness and regret, and to learn what it takes for a talented boy to grow and succeed. Mbappe will move on to the next exciting chapter of his career and by then we will have a more formidable striker.
