All about the effects of alcohol on the mind and body, and what a drinker should expect from a sip, or ten, of the hard stuff.
Why Sobriety?
Monday: (Day 1) Assuming I had a drink Sunday night... and by “drink,” I mean drank as much Jameson as I could before I passed the fuck out.
Things You Might Not Know About Alcohol Poisoning
I remember my 30th birthday party. Well, okay, not really. I don't remember much of it, since I did 30 shots for 30 years over the course of eight hours, argued with a salsa jar, then passed out somewhere in the rough side of Harlem after pissing myself. My friends told me it was great, though.

The Alcoholic's Spouse
They say if you dig deep enough into any family tree, you will find one, no matter how hard the family has tried to hide their family shame. The "one" I am talking about is the family "alcoholic."

Here I am again. Sitting up and unable to fully relax. To sleep, that would be peace. I don't think I have slept fully in months. My husband is in the thick of his addiction. It feels worse than ever. Every day is the same. He works, drinks, then passes out. (Vomit optional) He must get his fix on the way home. I am pretty sure he drinks in his car before coming in.
Best Drinking Games for Two People Everyone Should Play
I let my son Jarret have alcohol if he's supervised by me. I figure if he's already drinking, then he might as well do so in a safe space. And he may very well be drinking given that he's in the 9th grade and very secretive about his life. He's usually pretty tight-lipped even if he's had the one drink I allow him to have, whereas I gab about my love life and the classes I've been taking at the local community college. Maybe, though, if I throw some fun into the mix he'll open up more, which is why I'm turning to the best drinking games for two people.
Devon ThomasPublished 6 years ago in ProofBest Rated Hard Seltzer Brands
Hard seltzer is the newest, trendiest thing on the market. Its popularity comes from the fact that it's an alcoholic beverage that gets you buzzed, has low carb counts, and still manages to taste crisp and refreshing. (Basically, it's a lot like LaCroix in that sense.)

I am a weirdo!!! I just realized that wasn't a great way to open up because my friends already know that I am a weirdo. This is nothing new to them. What I meant to say is that I have a strange habit...Oops! They know that, too. Let me just come out and say it: I am a confirmed teetotaler.

Sometime around the beginning of December, 2015, I received a Facebook message from Kelly, a woman whom I had dated back in 2011. We had started dating after Valentine's Day of that year and continued until the end of August, when she moved away to continue her education. After trying the long distance thing until the end of the year, we met up one last time and decided it was in both of our best interests if we just moved on. It broke my heart to do so, but I loved her enough to know that letting her go would be much better for her than trying to string things along.
