Woman Adjacent
Pride month is over, but the journey of one’s identity is never-ending, and despite coming out a few years ago, my journey continues.
Sarah RhodenPublished 2 years ago in PrideHaunted Lives
We all live haunted lives. I'm not necessarily talking about spirits lurking around corners (although for some of us, I'm sure that's the case). What I'm referring to is the acute sense of loss & mourning that lingers after we pass from one phase of our lives to another. It's that familiar ache as you look around your empty apartment for the last time. It's the heart break, the joy, as we lose & gain new friends or relationships.
Cassandra Colley-CousePublished 2 years ago in PridePride 2022
"Since its official establishment in the year 2000, when it was originally coined “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month”, LQBTQ+ month has evolved to become a period of celebration, of recognition and, above all, of pride for the queer community.

Diane HayesPublished 2 years ago in PrideA Gender-neutral Graduation Includes Everyone!
I first spied him carrying chairs across the lawn to the area where the tables and food were being set up for the graduation party. He was dressed like a typical Midwestern teenage boy: jeans, t-shirt, Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers, a trucker cap atop his buzz cut, and a loose-fitting tee that didn’t do much to hide the fact that his chest was tightly bound underneath. If I had to guess, I would bet that he was using a combination of ace bandage, plus a smaller, tighter tank beneath his clothing. I shuddered to myself, imagining the physical discomfort, especially on that particularly balmy June afternoon. Not to mention any emotional or psychological discomfort that they experienced as a trans teen in small town, USA. I thought all this to myself, as it was certainly none of my business. Still, I often find myself casually keeping an eye out for queer and BIPOC kids when I’m visiting areas that are traditionally conservative.
Allison RicePublished 2 years ago in PrideSwallow Your Pride
I looked out the peephole and was astonished at the sight. My older sister, Julia, stood at my door. It took me a moment to even realize it was her. She looked so different from the last time I had seen her. It was like a stranger stood in front of me. Her hair appeared darker, her bright blue eyes seemed duller, and age had faded her once freckled face.
The Vatican Doesn't Want You To Know About This Gay Romance
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was born more than five centuries ago, 6 March 1475 to be exact. As a young man, he was a magnificent block of marble that was throughout his life broken down steadily by people around him. First the pope and the church, next by his thievious assistants, and finally by his own flaming love for young men.
Kamna KirtiPublished 2 years ago in PrideI'm Queer and I'm Here All Year
Every year on June 1st I get a handful of messages wishing me a Happy Pride Month. I usually respond with the generic, "thanks, you too!" because to be honest, I don't have the energy for more.
Oneg In The ArcticPublished 2 years ago in PrideHow To Be An Ally
Every year, LGBTQIA+ events are held in June in honour of Stonewall. As we approach June, it's important to learn how to be inclusive and welcoming during pride month - the one month of the year where the LGBTQIA+ community can be open and celebrated. Or, that's the way it's supposed to be, anyway. Even during pride, a lot of queer youth and adults feel excluded and afraid, especially living in specific communities. As a queer ally, it's important to stand up for your loved ones, and to stand up to those who make us feel threatened or scared.

Bayard Rustin -The Man That History Forgot
He was the man that history forgot. Bayard Rustin, more than any other civil rights hero, lived and operated in the shadows, not because he was a secretly gay man but because he didn't try to disguise who he was.
Chelsea RosePublished 2 years ago in PrideA Handy Guide to Sexuality
Hi there! I'm Danny, and I'm pansexual. Growing up, I struggled with a clusterfuck of sexual identities before settling on one that felt like me. As an adult, I've become passionate about acknowledging queer youth and helping them find their way in a world which clearly was not made for us. There's so much out there, and most of it is left unspoken, as if it's sinful or invalid. I want to change this.
