I have a personal connection to the novel “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Truman Capote. As I read the novel I related to the lead character who had a life and past that became toxic to her and no longer who she was so she ran away from it. The woman in the story often frequented the high end store known as “Tiffany’s” but then she met someone who had the nerve to go and get her past and it bring it to her this happened to me to. There is the same case in me I changed my name and my life and who I was and yet my past and people in it try to drag me back in so I don’t blame the lady in the lead character for never wanting to go back to what she escaped with good reason.

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” would go on to be made into a classic film starring Audrey Hepburn. It bothered me when in the book someone from the lady's past showed up to take her home that is what happens to me that is not home I left it and don’t want to go back for my well being and that is the way it was with the lady in the book later played by Audrey Hepburn. To remind myself I did a little research and I was reminded that the main character name is Holly Golightly.

I totally missed the romance and comedy in the book this book hits home for me I have my reasons for burying my past and who I used to be the same goes for our lead character who reinvented herself for her own well being which is what I did too. Truman Capote was a wonderful writer and author and he really knew his subject matter well. Personally, that out of work author and writer who moved into her building had no business checking around about her past.
