What Is Microdosing?

You've been hearing trends about people microdosing. So, what is microdosing, anyway?

News reports are talking about the benefits people are getting from microdosing drugs of all kinds. Some people have begun to microdose LSD for better productivity at work. Others claim that microdosing mushrooms has led to better overall mental health. Even more are starting to look into the benefits of microdosing cannabis.

Microdosing drugs has become trendy - and the term "microdosing" itself has become a buzzword. If you're like many people, you're probably wondering what is microdosing, and why so many people are doing it these days. This article will help clue you into what is microdosing all about, and whether it's effective.

What Is Microdosing?

Microdosing is taking a much smaller dose of a drug or psychedelic agent than normal. Often, the dose in question will be around 1/10th or 1/20th of what a standard dose of the drug would be.

This means that you won't get the standard "high" most people experience when they take psychedelic drugs. However, most people who microdose swear that there are many benefits to doing so, and are even touting it as an effective way to improve their overall wellbeing.

The idea behind microdosing is that it's a smaller dose of drugs that registers below the brain's "threshold" for a "high." This makes your brain get benefits without the hallucination, disorientation, or other issues that can come with drug usage.

Microdosing psychedelic drugs is the most common way people use this technique of drug administration. In fact, microdosing is now becoming the most popular way to dose LSD. However, there are also a number of groups that are considering microdosing cannabis as well.

What Is Microdosing Good For?

It's really hard to narrow down what is microdosing good for, primarily because this technique of administering drugs can be used with a wide variety of different substances. Moreover, everyone tends to react to drugs differently, which makes it even more difficult to pin down.

One girl said that using LSD microdosed out over the span of days has helped her get a better overall mood, helped her stop smoking, and also just improved her ability to focus at work. In one study, LSD microdosing showed itself as a good way to bolster productivity.

Others have claimed that, thanks to microdosing, studying became easier. Cannabis microdoses have been cited as a good way to beat depression, improve workout recovery and just even out moods.

What Does Research Find About Microdosing?

It's hard to find out much about what is microdosing good for, at least, on a clinical level. The reason why is because microdosing isn't very heavily researched. They can't even tell you what a standard "day dose" would be, so it's difficult to imagine how clinical trials will be able to standardize doses.

One of the biggest names in the microdosing trend is Dr. James Fadiman. His work suggests that microdosing may actually be a very effective way to get clarity without going "drug crazy," and that it could have medical potential as well. Primarily, Fadiman believes that microdosing may be a good way to help people wean themselves off of prescription drugs.

It's not entirely certain whether microdosing actually does what people think it does, or whether placebo effects are coming into play. As of right now, microdosing's effectiveness is being researched by a crowdfunded group.

Overall, it's hard to say what microdosing is going to offer users - unless you pay strict attention to a specific drug.
