Sometimes,
the words fail,
like when I
first met you.
I tried, really,
but my synonyms
came up short
and empty
You can imagine,
for a writer,
this is humbling.
Distressing, even.
But yours is a realm
where sentences
hold little sway.
All my tricks, laid bare.
You are
the poem
I was never
able to write.
