You Weren't The One

A poem for those who are healing their hearts

You weren't the one I thought you'd be,

But I was naive and failed to see.

You seek someone easy like Sunday morn,

Someone fun and light, that's your trueborn.

I long for a love that's deep and true,

No mincing words, just midnight moon's cue.

You wanted it your way, I craved our own,

You played the perfect part,

flaws mine alone. In the end,

I'm grateful for what we shared,

Though frustrations grew, we both truly cared.

I wish you the best, no harm or disdain,

May he love you completely, devoid of all pain.

You can go on and have your share of fun,

While I seek a love that outshines anyone.

Someone who cherishes me beyond the rest,

Loving me fully, not just second best.
