You think he will always love you
Then you find that it’s not true,
You think he’ll always want you
Then hurt when you are through.
***
You think you’ll grow old together
Loving for ever and a day,
You think he’s only eyes for you
But it never turns out that way.
***
You think he’ll never let you down
Or betray you with someone new,
You think you’re his one and only
Then discover he’s really got a few.
***
You think he’ll never do you wrong
And he will always be around,
You think you know him so well
But you know nothing you’ve found.
***
You think none of this will happen
But you since found out it’s true,
You think he has the same feelings
The deep feelings for him you do.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
