You put smiles
on faces that always frown.
Yet you don’t bother
putting one on your own.
Holding hands
of those who need your help,
you guide them.
You lead them.
You support them.
You listen to their words of aches and pains.
Through darkness,
you bring them light.
Such a “wrapper” you are,
for you are, all candy inside.
But taste buds deceived you,
you act bitter now.
You have forgotten
the sweetness candies bring.
The sensation down your throat,
the hyperactiveness they cause.
Remember it soon,
as time flies too quick.
For no candy is anymore sweet
if the wrapper is old and grey.
