You Stayed When It Was Not Easy

There were days I pulled away,

Days I had nothing left to say,

When silence felt like heavy stone,

And I believed I stood alone.

But you did not step back from me,

You stayed through every storm you see,

Not fixing all that I became,

But loving me just the same.

You watched me break, you watched me fall,

Yet never once withdrew at all,

You gave me space, but never left,

Even when I felt bereft.

There were moments I could not stand,

When everything slipped from my hand,

But you were there, still in my reach,

Not needing words, not needing speech.

And slowly I began to learn,

That not all love will twist and turn,

Some stay through chaos, stay through pain,

And never ask for praise or gain.

You were the constant I could trust,

The calm inside the broken dust,

The part of life that did not fade,

The choice that never once betrayed.

And now I know, beyond all fear,

The truest love is staying near,

Not in the easy shining days,

But through the hardest of the ways.
