I need you, and your hands in mine. I need to see your late summer dusk filled eyes, shades of grey and blue that nature can barely imitate. Listen to you telling me to protect my hearing, when I need the music cranked to 11 and I turn the volume down; realizing your voice is all I need to hear.
I need you, and your mumbling in the night. Murmurs of a subconscious that neither recognizes or realizes reality, creating more intricate scenarios than a visionary could ever dream.
I need you, and the hint of lavender that follows your step. All of my life I favored that flower, pointing it out every chance I could, capturing its essence in the only ways I knew. Following its color, till I found you.
I need you, nah. I want you, and the brand new you bring to this world. The reminiscence of all that is, and the unfamiliarity of all that is to come. I need you, nah. I want you and all the wonders you bring. But what good is all I got, when you’re all I want.
About the Creator
Jake Trammell
I write things I could never speak aloud. Usually in the form of poetry or short stories. One day I’d like to write a novel.
