You Leave Me Broken

Shattered like glass

You Leave Me Broken

You leave me broken, not in halves

but in thin slivers no one sees

I smile through glass that cuts my mouth

I speak, but never what I mean

You held my name like it was yours

and dropped it where the silence grew

now every room I walk into

still echoes like it once knew you

You leave me waiting, hands undone

the coffee cold, the curtains drawn

the chair you sat in holds its breath

as if it aches to feel your form

I counted steps you’ll never take

I watched the night refuse to end

the clock keeps time like it’s a game

but not one I know how to win

You leave me broken, edge to edge

not shattered, just worn down too thin

a whisper caught beneath the tongue

a story with no place to begin
