You In the Rain

A Poem

The rain, what is it with the rain?

I have seen it fall how many times?

But this time it has evaporated my thoughts into puddles

As it hits the ground, crashing down with my thoughts

Soaking in the warmth from your heart

I can feel your thoughts as I remember your face

Those little creases beside your lips, your smile

Your hands so gentle, wiping the water off my cheek

There is stillness in the night

The trees don't even move

It is dark and I do not seem to mind

I smile to myself as I think of things that will be

Somewhere you are, but I feel you here with me

As if you are standing right beside me, I feel your presence

The stars still blink in your eyes, though the rain is pounding down hard

I don't even see one star in the night sky

But then again I am lost inside, lost within you

And there is no other place I would rather be

But dancing together in the rain
