You for Me, Me for You

Soul of My Soul

Each day holds a promise,

Of you and your love

Of connection like no other

Of home, finally, a home

I wander in the desert

Searching for a single grain of sand

Searching for a single drop of water

Searching for a single glimmer of hope

I watch as I see flowers unfurl

Seeing if the petals reveal you

Seeing time pass before me

Seeing the flower wither unloved

Time and space are my enemy

Too much of one

Too little of the other

Too quick and too vast to traverse

Every day the question goes unanswered

Are you truly out there?

Are you searching for your promise?

Are we ever to meet?

Waiting for you to find me

Day after day, you seem further away

Day after day, I die a little more

Day after day, a soul without its mate

Does your soul yearn like mine?

Hoping you’ll find me

Hoping I am here still

Hoping our souls will finally meet

Each day holds a promise

Thank you for reading my poem. I often write about soul mates and the anguish of not finding them.

It’s a lovely and fascinating belief. I like to believe there is one special person for every one of us. Yet the world is so vast and time is against us finding the soul of our souls.

Until we do, we go through life not quite fulfilled. There are those tiny cracks that only one person fills. I hope you find yours.
