YOU DIDN’T TRY TO STOP ME

 And now the wall is up

 {{}{}{}{}{}}

 How could you let me fall in love

When you knew how well I would?

You didn’t try to stop me

Even though you knew you could.

You just led me on and let me fall,

Then took my heart from me;

Then turned and walked away and left

A broken woman here to see.

Your promises were empty lies.

But how could I have known?

You seemed so sweet and honest

With the affection that you’d shown.

But I’ve grown wiser with my age

And the tears that once fell fast,

No longer will be found in me.

I’ve buried them in the past.

I cry no more for a broken love;

I can’t be hurt at all;

I’ve hidden my emotions, now

Behind a mental wall.
