You Chose the Life to Live, Not Me
I went along rather than lose you

You Chose the Life to Live, Not Me
You chose the road beneath your feet,
While mine collapsed in cracked concrete,
You called it strength to walk away,
I called it surviving another day.
The world applauded all your dreams,
Your polished smile and perfect schemes,
While I was buried underneath,
A mouth full of blood instead of teeth.
You spoke of freedom like a gift,
As if broken souls could simply lift,
As if pain were just a choice,
And silence never stole a voice.
I watched you build a life from gold,
While mine grew dark, bitter, and cold,
Every door slammed in my face,
Every prayer erased without trace.
You never saw the nights I bled,
The war inside my shaking head,
The empty bottles by the sink,
Or how close I came to the brink.
Still you judged the scars I wore,
As though suffering needed more,
As though survival made me weak,
Because despair stained how I speak.
But some of us inherit storms,
Broken homes and twisted forms,
Not everyone is born with light,
Some are raised surviving night.
So yes, you chose the life you keep,
While I learned how not to sleep,
And if my darkness stains these pages,
It’s because pain survives through ages.
