You Can’t Hold Me Prisoner To Love
I am me I am free

You Can’t Hold Me Prisoner To Love
wYou cannot hold me prisoner to love
And call the chains devotion
You cannot lock every door around me
Then speak of endless emotion
Love was never built from ownership
Never designed to confine
It should not demand surrender
Just to prove somebody is mine
You called control protection
You called distance loyalty
You placed your fear inside my pockets
And expected gratitude endlessly
I bent myself to fit your silence
Cut away pieces to remain
Changed my voice and softened my edges
Only to carry your pain
Then one morning I stood and noticed
I had become somebody else
A version made from careful footsteps
Living nowhere except your shelf
So I opened windows one by one
Let air move through my chest
Watched your rules become smaller
Watched my own heart protest less
You reached for me with old promises
Spoke of memories and what we were
Yet freedom sounded stronger than longing
And my thoughts became clearer
You cannot hold me prisoner to love
If love arrives with a key
Because anything that cages a person
Was never meant for me
