Writing Through Silence: My Poetic Ritual

How quiet moments become the birthplace of my words

By Habib kingPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

In the hush before dawn,

when the world forgets to speak,

I sit with an empty page,

listening to the breath between my thoughts.

The clock hums softly,

like a heartbeat I didn’t know I missed.

My pen waits, patient as the moon,

until a single word drips into the stillness.

It is here—

in the pause between coffee sips

and the slow curl of morning light—

that I gather pieces of myself

scattered by yesterday’s noise.

I write not to fill the silence,

but to honor it—

to let my hands translate the language

only my heart understands.

Every line is a quiet offering,

a bridge between what I feel

and what I dare to say aloud.

And when the poem ends,

I close my notebook gently,

knowing the silence has given me

more than words—

it has given me back myself.
