Still Trying to Find the Words

I put up my pen

and lay it down again

drowning in thought

but no words

my head is complicated

by the thoughts of the day

and yet I can’t write

and it perturbs me

I pace the room

slowly at first

getting distracted by the television and simple sounds

isn’t it funny how everything else

seems more important

when you are trying to write in the bounds

of your own expectations

does it have to be a complication

or do we need a ratification

of timelines and expected presentation

maybe the distracted behavior

is just a small favor

allowing me to see what is true

the pressure and assumption that our writing

has to be a perfect

is a stressful expectation

that needs reviewed
