Wretched Wind Chimes!
Poppy’s Prompts #2: February
Tinkling wind chimes charm...
My Dad loved to hear their sound
Float on breeze at night.

Rainbow lorikeets
Screech and haggle over scraps
Dusk… patio scene.

Visit from my aunt
Precious memories delight
Laughter freely shared.

Wind chimes sway and sing
Quick… tie them up! I can’t sleep!
Breeze blows… silence reigns!

Poppy’s wind chime prompt reminded me of my scallywag Dad’s beloved wind chimes disturbing his fun loving sister’s sleep whenever she visited.
Since I adore wind chimes, I considered her solution to the problem to be an extreme travesty!
However, one night the wind blew so incessantly, their chimes turned to a clamour which could be heard deep within the house!
Staggering out onto the wet patio, I ruthlessly, imprisoned those wayward wind chimes and was duly rewarded with the sweet sleep of a babe.

“Imprisoned those wayward chimes!” Hahah. 😆 Yes they can get a bit much at times. Thanks for sharing this little story in poetry. 😊
I saw your Rainbows and was treated by your words - well done! Wind chimes are not everyone's cup of tea!
We learn to tune out what we get used to I think, but then in extreme weather, no one can tune that out!
