Wrapped Round Molly‘s Paw

She waits with her chin on the edge of the world,

Soft eyes lifted, quiet, and bright,

A small beating heart in a coat of black,browns & white,

Holding his day in her gentle sight.

Little Molly, she knows his footsteps,

Before the key has touched the door,

Her tail writes joy across the air,

A language he cannot ignore.

And John, he bends without resistance,

Every time she calls his name,

Not with words, but softer pulling,

A kind of love without a claim.

She follows close through every room,

A shadow warm upon his heel,

As if the thread that binds them both,

Is something only dogs can feel.

He laughs, and she leans in closer,

Claiming him in her quiet way,

Not by force, nor loud demand,

But by choosing him, day after day.

For in her gaze there is no question,

No second thought, no drifting mind,

She has him wrapped around her small paw,

In the purest love you’ll ever find.

And though the world may turn and wander,

And time may shift, and seasons draw,

There John stays, content and willing,

Forever held by love and Molly’s paw.
