Wonderland

a love poem

The glass was leaded

Too mired to reframe

To ridgid and heavy to shimmer

At the sound of your name

That breezed through my lips,

Cherry-stained,

On baited breath.

If i could just reel the wonderland of you

Into the palm of my naked hand

That clings to sanguine bloom,

A November rose still rebelling with color

Against the cold and perpetual gloom.

We could stop waiting on alchemy

To transform the retrograde mercury,

And just…

linger

In satiated repose,

Wrapped in glacé confessions,

Foil kissed by gold.

Let it melt in my mouth,

Let the sweethess sink in,

Marrow deep,

Until all my soul can do is breathe

In candlelit sighs.

Treasures escape

through my once vaulted chest,

Forming jewels of long sought phrases,

Entwined with the melody of home.

Here where heart’s proclivity,

At long last sings in harmony

With the tea kettle’s content whistle

And the tittering jubilance of the dawn choir.

The glass was leaded,

Took mired to reframe,

But your eyes shimmered in flaxen light,

Your lips reflecting my name.
