Wondering
What goes through one's mind during that first chance meeting
In the library, I catch you staring
I watch you, watch me
You come over, ask, “Is it any good?”
Referring to the book in my hand.
Atlas Shrugged
I shrugged.
“Overrated,” I stated.
Dimples in your smile, like commas.
The book in your hand, same as the one in mine.
We laugh.
The librarian hisses.
I wonder about your kisses
Your favorite movies
If you like picnics under the stars
The sienna in your eyes, the gold flecks inside
Do you leave your socks on the floor?
What kind of kid were you at four?
If decades from now, will we look back on this day?
Your dislikes, fears, philosophy
Hoping you're feeling the same as me.
