Wonderful Warheads
a poem about sour candy

When Sour Patch Kids seem tame
And gummy worms a bore,
It's time to up the ante
With the most sour candy in the store
Colorfully wrapped hard knobs
Watermelon, blue raspberry,
Green apple, lemon, and
My favorite, black cherry
Pick one, you can't go wrong
With five flavors so sublime,
Or if you're feeling extra brave,
Try them all at the same time
On the afternoon bus ride home,
Flavors traded among friends
How many rise to the challenge:
Whoever eats the most wins
Outlast the sour until the sweetness
Don't spit or squint; those are the rules
It's worth the burning mouth to be
Crowned the coolest kid in school
