WOMB.

AND?

WOMB, AND.

WO-MAN.

A woman:

Birthing me,

the nation,

the culture flourishing American grounds

A woman:

Raising me,

my self-sufficiency,

protecting me from those set out to dim

the light beaming within me.

A woman:

Confides in me,

the familial intimacy,

the sharing of experiences cultivating unity.

A woman is who I celebrate,

who I embrace,

who I choose to love on,

who I choose to uplift and empower.

I celebrate woman and womanhood.

I celebrate my grandmother's Mac N Cheese,

my great aunt’s butter biscuits,

momma’s locs in the business meeting

and auntie's position in the boardroom.

I celebrate sexual liberation,

sensual connection,

erotic creativity,

the birthing of community

and the glue keeping it intact.

I celebrate our rights

to practice sexual agency,

agency over our wombs,

and agency over the choice to love.

Today, I celebrate women and those who love on women.

Today, I celebrate You.
