Woman

Your Voice

As you speak about the trivialities of life

Or the dreams and wonders in your sight,

I zone out,

Pretend to listen,

Mesmerized,

Perhaps something‘s even risen..

To nod, acknowledge, yes!

Maybe say something in addition,

But actually bathing,

Almost numb,

In the tender words that you transition.

Forgive me,

But I can’t help it.

How hard can it become sometimes

To look into your eyes,

To feel the excitement you describe,

When the shivers are coming down my spine

From the words that fly externalized

Through your lips that I wish that I

Could have just a little closer to mine.
