WITHOUT BELIEF

Empty words make not a story

WITHOUT BELIEF

Without belief words are empty
With no solid ground nothing stands
Hope needs somewhere to grow
Love needs more than hands

Truth can survive the silence
Lies eventually fall
A heart without any feeling
Is hardly a heart at all

We search for something certain
Something we know is real
Not every wound is visible
Not everything has to heal

Without belief words are empty
They vanish into the air
Promises mean so little
When nobody really cares

With no solid ground nothing stands
Even mountains turn to dust
Love cannot live on maybe
And life cannot grow without trust

I have walked on broken pathways
I have stood where others fell
I have looked into tomorrow
With no story left to tell

Still something kept me standing
Something refused to leave
Perhaps the ground beneath us
Is simply what we believe
