Withdrawal

A Poem

I quietly withdraw into myself.

The silence here keeps me company,

but it’s a lonely place to be.

I long for companionship—

for someone who truly understands me,

someone unafraid of honesty,

who never makes me feel

I have to hide,

or lock pieces of myself

away inside.

I want a best friend.

A lover.

A fighter.

Someone who makes me feel

I can come to them

with anything,

at any time,

anywhere—

without judgment,

without fear.

I long

for more

than what I have.

But this too shall pass,

and life will continue on its way.

One day,

I dream of a love so true.

I dream of you—

that future person

who is my everything,

who makes my heart sing,

who makes it so

I never feel alone again.

Because with you,

I know I’ll have a best friend.

Someone at my side,

someone at my back.

A love that never falters.

A love that never lacks.

But until that day comes,

I will live

with the pangs of longing,

for a love so true,

for a heart that is unconditional,

for a knight in shining armor

who sweeps me off my feet.

I ache.

I long.

I shake.

And I dream

that one day,

it will happen.
