Wisdom of Elders
Generation after generation can show us the way
We all age day by day
Each given a sand timer of precious grains
Gaining wisdoms, experiences, lessons
Knowledge shared, explained and discussed
Life etched out in surface markings
Scars hidden deep within
Why are we dismissing the elders?
Why are we not giving them our time and attention?
Why are we not listening to sacred scriptures spoken?
Understanding morals, manners, ethics and values
Our elders impart wisdoms of living righteously
Respecting one another and giving selflessly
Stories passed down from generation to generation
Golden nuggets of meaning and foresight
History to be treasured and not forgotten
We are failing to see the accountability of our actions
We are all souls of many many lifetimes
Repeating our patterns of behaviour
Overcoming karmic debts
Attaining greater enlightenment
Mastered in this earthly incarnation
