Wild Willows

Poem

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

wild horses appeared through the willows

and for a moment I drifted through time

back to where the tumble weeds tumbled

and the canyons exposed open skies

gathering across wayward currents

driven hard by the wild inside

like a predator bred for the hunted

on the banks where forlorn spirits cry

howling out to the ones gone before me

a connection with the deepest desire

to connect with the power of nature

reigniting the purest of fires
