Wild and Free

Sometimes they come around and leave you wondering just how wild and free one can get.

Once, I knew

a gal so free

and wild.

No man could

stop her

And make her settle

down in the pasture.

She ran hard.

She ran fast.

No reins for her,

no saddles on her back.

I called her the wild horse,

with tangled hair flowing in

harsh dry wind.

I called her that

for she took off

when the world

was there before her.

She never stopped

until it was hers.

I thought I could tame her,

show her the way.

But, she didn't want that.

It was the wind,

the land,

and that place called

freedom

she yearned for.

And how free she was

--my little wild horse.

Wild and free:

that was her,

just wild and free.
