i’d rather be
the wicked witch–
the one who howls with the moon
the one who sleeps below the stars
no one to tell her to come inside
*
i’d rather be
the weird witch
the one who doesn’t always fit
the one who stands beside her sisters
under the full moon and in the dark
*
i’d rather be
the wild witch–
the one who gathers herbs for potions
that can heal the greatest wounds her patients
never even knew they had
*
i’d rather be
the wicked witch
because she will not always be known as wicked–
one day soon, she will become
the one we’ve all been waiting for

Yes, no one likes us when they can’t fit us in a box … wicked witch for sure! Absolutely love this, Joelle. Bravo! 💕🙂

She is only called wicked, weird & wild by men (& some women) who feel threatened because she sees & understands what they (we) have never been able to, those (we) who need to marginalize &/or dispense with her so as to protect their (our) precarious sense of privilege & power. But those who can begin to catch a glimpse through her wizened eyes, mind, heart & soul are drawn to her & find healing.
