Wholesale Repackaged Trauma
Stream of Consciousness Poem. Social Commentary.
literary voyeurism
deciphering symbolism
I want to be the fly on your wall
the one you don't notice anymore
the one you feed all your
hopes, dreams, thoughts,
regrets, misery, post-sex blues
*
I don't want to see you naked
I want to hear you naked
underneath the skin, the fabric of your body
*
deconstruct your inner workings
reverse engineer you
from the sadness, the happiness
from the bad days and good that made you you
the only you there ever has been
*
take all that dirt, grime, love and hate,
replicate it, wholesale distribute it
Appleise it, Microsoft it, Disnefy it.
Commercialise and Capitalise
repackage your trauma
as an "Experience"
indulge the masses
Wait... that's already a thing

Beautiful and powerful.
So ludicrously intimate and then...wait, that IS already a thing!
Yeah… but don’t you do this and we lap it up!? So many groovy lines here and I had a blast! Thank you for repackaging your trauma? 🧐 Look, I honestly don’t know how I feel about this as we all do it to some degree.. but we are on a writing website/community with friends so I think it is kinda allowed right? It’s not like we’re posting our stories on the latest magazine for the entire world to take a gander at, or are we? Wait maybe we really are living in Blade runner 3 like this piece made me think of!…. Thoughts?
Huh, repackage my trauma as experience? Will it help me get a job? No? Will it help me get into a mental asylum? Yes? Awesomeeee, I'll repackage it as expected then hehehehhe. Loved your poem! 🍩🥐
I like this one, although I don't know how you hear if someone is naked... ;)
“Wait, that’s already a thing.” Your finger is on the pulse of this modern, scary world, Paul! That one snuck up on me (not that that is particularly unusual).
A malevolent appetite is exposed here. Nice work!
Interesting poem, I enjoyed reading it.
Interesting and deep the voyeurism of consumerism is a disturbing thing
