I wear the colors of the rainbow

Flying, though I have not wings

Carried wherever the wind blows

As the wind through branches sing

Fluttering like butterflies

Floating without touching the ground

Wispy, notes of music

That never makes a sound

I am found among the trees

Floating on gentle, rippling waves

Bright and bold for all to see

Pressed as a memory to save

Pushed into a pile

For an afternoon of play

New expressions on my face

But never having words to say

In blazing fields of grain

Waving hello, goodbye

I have thin, finger like veins

And biting flames reaching for the sky

I’m in a memory that’s made

A vision made to be remembered

Beauty that nature has displayed

I am the sights and sounds of October
