White Trash

There are only humans

How often did I feel like white trash growing up?

I guess every

time I was called white trash

This one old woman used to inform me that

"You're Danny Bradley's boy"

as if I'd forgotten

then she'd throw in

"and you kiss black girls!"

I'm ashamed of none of this.

I never wanted to be Danny Bradley's boy

and I'll take my love where I find it.

I'm quite confident that at particular time

I'd only kissed one black girl in front of her

and we were both ten years old at the time

but bow down to the old woman's extrapolation.

She nailed that one.
