These precious pearls

Hang around my neck

Like a thoughtful gift

One that would blind

My pure fragile eyes

With a radiant white shine

Strong enough

To exude the charm

Clever enough

To hide the harm

The power

Of your tongue

Yet those pearls

Are the product

Of your deception

The layered lies

Coated carefully

Into something

Cured beautifully

Pulled tight

Across my throat

Until I gasp

For the slipping air

Beneath your trap

I snap the string

Your pearls scatter

No longer haunted

The illusions shatter
